Backbends

One of the reasons why back-bends are so helpful in managing negative stress is the effect they have on the solar plexus. Many nerves of the autonomic nervous system converge here where we feel tension, butterflies, fear, joy and other emotions. By stretching and extending the solar plexus region we stretch the vagus nerve that extends down the front of the body and free the tangled nerves of tension in the pit of the stomach.
