Daniel Elrington

Workplace Yoga International is a select group of well trained and professional yoga and meditation teachers from a variety of traditions including the Gita, Iyengar, Sivananda and Vinyasa yoga traditions coordinated and managed by Daniel Elrington.

Daniel has a Masters degree in Counselling from Monash University and has had a genuine and deep interest in yoga and meditation for many years. He first learnt the art and practice of meditation as a teenager in the early 1990’s which developed into studies in Indian Philosophy at University where he discovered the true meaning of yoga.

Daniel enjoys exploring the four major paths of yoga including Jnana Yoga – the philosophical approach; Raja Yoga – the scientific approach including asana and pranayama; Karma Yoga – the yoga of action and Bhakti Yoga – the yoga of devotion.

Daniel’s exploration of yoga includes numerous trips to India where he has spent time at The Bihar School of Yoga in Bihar, the Anand Prakesh Ashram and the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh; and the Satyananda Ashram in Rocklyn, Victoria. In addition, Daniel has attended numerous yoga retreats with senior yoga teacher Clive Sheridan in India and Australia.

Daniel has also enjoyed exploring the practice of meditation (the 7th limb of Raja Yoga called Dhyana) through a daily practice along with attendance at numerous meditation retreats in the Vipassana traditions of Goenka and Wat Chom Tong in Northern Thailand.

Daniel has been a Rigpa student since 1998, a spiritual centre lead by Sogyal Rinpoche – the author of “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying” and has attended numerous meditation retreats with Rinpoche in Australia and in the UK.

Daniel completed his first yoga teacher training course in 2007 at Gita Yoga International with Di Lucas and Lucille Wood, a comprehensive 900 hour course in teaching yoga. Daniel also completed the one month Residential Yoga Teacher Training course with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in 2012.

Daniel began teaching yoga in the corporate world on a part time basis in 2008 with the creation of “Workplace Yoga”; between numerous overseas journeys in his sincere exploration of the deeper aspects of yoga.

Daniel worked in the corporate world in the recruitment industry for many years and understands the challenges and stresses of corporate life. He is very motivated to offer the wonderful and magical practices of yoga in the workplace as tools to help alleviate and manage stress.

Daniel is a member of Yoga Australia, the governing association of professional yoga teachers.
